The RaVeN double degree programme is a four-semester EIT-Labelled, master’s programme in cooperation with academic partners – AGH University of Science and Technology (AGH UST), Technische Universität Bergakademie Freiberg (TUBAF) and Technical University of Košice (TUKE) – and non-academic partners – Lukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Non-ferrous Metals (IMN) (Poland) and La Palma Research Centre – LPRC (Spain). The RaVeN programme offers an innovative educational programme based on a comprehensive, sustainable and circular approach to raw materials, with a combination of highly specialised knowledge and strongly entrepreneurial attitudes. This will be achieved through an active educational pathway that engages students and seeks unconventional solutions that can bring it closer to a more self-sufficient (recirculation of natural resources) and thus more sustainable economy. The educational process will be carried out in close cooperation with a wide range of stakeholders – including SMEs and large corporations (guest lectures, study visits, non-academic training). The programme also includes lectures and study visits as part of the summer school, as well as winter industrial internships. In semester one, AGH University’s Department of Civil Engineering and Resource Management provides students with the necessary fundamental skills in earth sciences and technology with issues about engineering processes (geology and innovative mining). In semester two, AGH University’s Faculty of Non-ferrous Metals expands on the knowledge gained during semester one and provides students with a more advanced understanding of minerals processing and innovation in metallurgy. During Semester three at TUBAF, students have the opportunity to gain an in-depth and comprehensive understanding of materials producing, recycling and circularity. Semester four at AGH University is a graduate semester, focused on preparing a master’s thesis in close collaboration with an industrial partner or research center, which will also host students for an internship. During each semester the above mentioned topics will be supported by courses on economic, social and environmental issues. This logical combination gives the awareness of sustainability and effectivity management to stakeholders in raw materials sector. After successfully completing the education path, the student receives two diplomas from prestigious European universities and is equipped with solid knowledge, competences and skills. The student receives the EIT certificate of the European Institute of Technology and Innovation, as RaVeN studies have received EIT accreditation. EIT Label certifies a quality seal awarded to top Master programs w Europe that excel in shaping a new generation of students into game changers and innovators. The program is funded by EIT Raw Materials (EU body), project number 21077.
