The International MA Programme in Eastern European Jewish Studies offered by the Wroclaw University is a 1.5-year interdisciplinary course designed to educate an international group of students in three areas of Eastern European Jewish Studies: Hasidism, Yiddish culture, and the social and political history of Jews in modern Eastern Europe. The course is composed of master classes, lectures, and classes with visiting scholars from research centers that provide a superlative level of teaching. Students are required to complete 694 hours of courses equivalent to 98 ECTS points, including two elective master classes in the first two semesters of the program. In their third semester, students must write an MA thesis under the supervision of a faculty member. The program aims to augment the potential and diversity of the pool of future Ph.D. students conducting research in Jewish Studies. Applicants to the program must have a good command of English as all classes will be conducted in English, basic research skills in the field of humanities or social sciences obtained during undergraduate studies, and basic knowledge of the history of Poland, Central and Eastern Europe, and the history of Jews. The application process has several important deadlines that must be met, including the last day of submitting applications and paying registration fees, recruitment interview, and the final date of payment of the tuition fee. Upon completion of the program, graduates will have skills that enable them to conduct research projects in the field of Jewish studies, work in institutions dealing with the spiritual and material Jewish heritage, publishing houses, editorial offices, museums, cultural centers, and mass media requiring knowledge of Jewish languages, among others.
